 rom the gardens of the different varieties of historical roses grown here 
 outside. A specialist demonstration that will action the words of Dr Maria
 nne and let those attending get their hands dirty. Dr. Marianne O'Kane Boa
 l is a curator\, critic and art historian. She writes for the Irish Arts R
 eview and is President of AICA Ireland\, the International Association of 
 Art Critics. Her talk to be called: ‘The symbolism and significance of R
 oses in the History of Art.’ Elizabeth Temple has over four decades crea
 ted a uniquely beautiful walled garden in Mountcharles\, Co. Donegal. Salt
 hill Gardens is a 1.3-acre\, 18th-century walled garden overlooking Donega
 l Bay with a distinctive "painterly" aesthetic. Elizabeth took on a beauti
 ful green space\, that was substantially lawn\, and over time transformed 
 it with flowing paths and the planting of many vivid perennials\, shrubs a
 nd trees - including a wonderful collection of old roses - creating a laye
 red and richly textured\, impressionistic landscape like no other. 9.45 Ar
